Building Oregon’s Largest Clinical Network: The ORCounselors Story

— Written by Eric Richers

Building a directory isn’t about code; it’s about connection. When we launched ORCounselors.com, we didn’t just build a database—we built a bridge for 16,000+ clinicians.

The Cold-Start Playbook

Most directories fail because they start empty. We solved the "chicken and egg" problem by pre-populating the network with 16,000+ profiles from public licensing data. This ensured that on Day 1, a patient in Klamath Falls could find exactly who they needed.

The Scraper Pipeline

Sophisticated BeautifulSoup and Playwright pipelines executed over 15,000 targeted scrapes, bypassing corporate data masking to find real, local office info.

OSINT Enrichment

Open-Source Intelligence cross-referenced NPI registries and clinical social profiles in real-time to ensure every profile was verified and high-fidelity.

The OHP Green Engine

Oregon Health Plan (OHP) access is a humanitarian crisis. We built a custom engine that automatically highlights providers accepting state insurance, turning a technical detail into our largest driver of high-intent clinical traffic.

"Technology should be the infrastructure that allows a therapist to be more human, not a barrier to care."

The Symbiotic Growth Loop

By mapping public data first, we created immediate value for patients. As traffic grew, clinicians saw their own profiles ranking #1 on Google and reached out to claim them. This self-reinforcing cycle built the state's most robust directory without a single cold call.

The Ethical Tool

Look, I know I know—AI is evil. We see it destroying authenticity every day. But when used in the right environments of your business—the boring, repetitive admin work that drains your soul—it’s a powerful tool that can help save you time. That time saved is time you can give back to your clients, your family, and yourself.
